This Privacy Policy describes how Fish Copilot (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our mobile application and related services. By using the App, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Who we are

Fish Copilot is a fishing companion app that provides forecasts, maps, and tools to help you plan time on the water. The services that power signed-in features (such as saving spots, catches, and tracks) are operated on infrastructure we control or configure, including application servers and databases described below.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Account and authentication

When you create an account or sign in, we process:

• Identity and contact: such as email address, display name, and authentication provider identifiers (for example, Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, or email/password via our authentication provider).
• Profile image: if you choose a profile photo, or if your sign-in provider supplies a profile picture URL.

Authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication on our behalf.

2.2 Content you save in the App

When you use features that sync across devices, we store the data you provide, which may include:

• Saved locations and waypoints (including names, notes, and coordinates you associate with them).
• Catch records (such as species, notes, dates, and related metadata you enter).
• Photos you attach to catches or your profile. Images are stored in secure object storage and linked to your account.
• Recorded tracks or paths (sequences of geographic points and related metadata such as start/end times and labels).

2.3 Location information

The App uses device location when you allow it (for example, to show maps, forecasts, and nearby conditions for a pin or your position). Location may be processed on your device and sent to our servers when you request forecasts or use features that depend on a place, so we can return relevant results. We do not sell your precise location.

2.4 Support communications

If you contact us through in-app support, we receive your message, your account identifier, and the email address you provide so we can respond. Support messages may be delivered by email through our email service provider.

2.5 Technical and service data

We and our providers may process standard technical data needed to operate the service, such as:

• IP address, device/browser type, and timestamps in server logs.
• API requests necessary to fulfill app features (for example, requesting forecast or map-related data).

We do not use third-party advertising SDKs in this policy’s description of the App solely for cross-app tracking.

3. How we use information

We use the information above to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the App and its features.
• Authenticate you, sync your saved data across devices, and secure your account.
• Generate fishing-related information (such as solunar, weather, tides, and related scores) for locations you choose.
• Respond to support requests and communicate about the service when appropriate.
• Protect against abuse, fraud, and security issues; comply with law; and enforce our terms.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as needed to run the App, with service providers (processors) bound by appropriate obligations, including:

• Google Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication and related identity services.
• Supabase — hosted database and storage for account-linked content (such as saved items and photos).
• Fly.io — hosting for our application programming interface (API) and delivery of static resources.
• Twilio SendGrid — sending support-related email to our team.
• Google Maps Platform — map display in the App when enabled; Google’s terms and privacy policy apply to map features.
• Data and weather providers — our backend may call third-party APIs (for example, tide, marine, or weather data sources) using coordinates or region-level parameters you trigger by using the App. Those requests typically do not include your name or email.

We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users or the public.

5. Retention

We retain account and saved content for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account through the App (where available), we take steps to delete or de-identify associated personal data, subject to limited retention for backups, security logs, or legal requirements.

6. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards such as encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls on servers, and authenticated APIs for personal data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we work to protect your information but cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your choices and rights

• Location: You can disable location permissions in your device settings; some features may not work without them.
• Account: You may sign out at any time. Where the App offers account deletion, you may use it to request removal of your account and associated synced data.
• Regional rights: Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us using the information below to make a request. We may verify your identity before responding.

8. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

9. International users

Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries where they operate. If you use the App from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those jurisdictions.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
